[sdiy] Tools for testing MIDI

I have rarely dealt with synchronization, but I'd expect the sending
side to be pretty straight forward - if it sends the clock messages,
you're done. Any stress test would be more on the receiving side,
including passing through MIDI mergers etc.
What could be done: keeping the sync on for an exactly specified (long)
amount of time (possibly book-ended by some other unique messages), and
have a receiver count the number of clock messages during that time.
That way you can be sure that your sender doesn't skip a message *every
now and then*. But you'd probably need a DIY receiver - which obviously
is within your capabilities.
