Hi Roman,

I hear you.  I have always preferred to do things myself, and I genuinely
thought I was, until a friend of mine mentioned the Arduino libraries.

There is more abstraction in those than anybody would ever expect.
Actually as with much of the Arduino ecosystem nothing is what it seems...
