Agreed! I've done this in the past with some blue LEDs that were only 
made as highly focused blinding LED's. In my case, I have a disc sander 
in my shop and just touched the front of the plastic package against the 
disk to flatten it and I believe I just left it rough and matte to 
further diffuse the LED.
