Jean-Pierre,

I can't ID the component, alas. (Thank you, encrapulated search engines 
:( ) I do recognize the ruler from the Chicago Etching Corporation, 
though. I got one at a trade show long ago. What are the odds?

Unsurprisingly the company is long gone. Looks like a Nordstrom store 
occupies the site now.
