Sounds like you're trying to create a "phantom powered" voltage gate to 
closed switch converter.
I believe that is very doable as long as the gate (or velocity) output 
has sufficient drive current.
Maybe even a small reed relay could accomplish that as well if your 
output is sufficient to drive the coil. The switch would also be safely 
isolated from the other end as well.
