Hi all,

A bit belated, but May 30 1995 is the oldest message in the archive (ignoring test messages and faulty Date: headers). So let’s consider this the 30th birthday of this great list and its members. 30 years!

And there are still members active from this beginning. See https://synth-diy.org/pipermail/synth-diy/1995-May/date.html and further. Unfortunately we have also lost members, like Jürgen Haible on that first page.

Many thanks and three cheers to Rick Jansen, the founder and long time admin/curator of this list. Rick, are you still out there? If so, can you say something about the start of this list?

I subscribed in 1998 I think, and was mostly a lurker. Back in 2016, Rick was looking for someone else to run the list and I volunteered. The reason was that I had (and still have) an much respect for the contents and members of this list and its high signal to noise ratio. This would be a way to do something back for this community.

Here are some statistics I put together last week. Don’t pin me down on the exact numbers, they might be off by 1 or 2. I just accepted what the various Python libraries could make of the Archive mailbox (around 650 MB)...
