I built a test circuit and used 78L09 and 79L09 to supply just the AS3350,
with everything else running off of the +/-15V supply. It worked perfectly
and was super convenient, so that's what I'm going to do.
Actually, since the signals to and from the AS3350 are very small (divided
down by a factor of 100 to ensure low OTA distortion), I can actually run
the chip from +/-5V. Since 78L05 and 79L05 are quite a bit cheaper than
78L09 and 79L09, that's probably what I'll do. I'll just put a couple of
those on each soundcard. Since I will get two independent filters from each
AS3350, I'll only need 24 AS3350 ICs for 48 keys (I'm building a synth
inspired by the Korg PS-3100), so even if I only put one AS3350 on each
soundcard, it's still less than $10 for 24 pairs of regulators.
