[sdiy] Hot Air Rework Heat Gun with no base.. Only handpiece.. Any suggestions ?

I've never used one of these. How do you prevent the hot air hear gun from blowing away parts nearby the one you intend to remove?

I have a soldering station that accepts a pencil or tweezers. With the tweezers, I can apply heat directly to the part that I want to remove, and nothing else. There are several attachments, making removal of an 8-pin SOIC easy, and I've even managed to remove a 14-pin SOIC by moving the tool to melt the solder on the pins just beyond the tools edges.

The Weller soldering tweezers and station are not super cheap, but the results are very precise.
