[sdiy] Pro-One screws and jack nuts

Someone will possibly correct me, but apart from GPO jacks which were ¼ inch but had a different outline, I've never seen a non standard nut used to secure those used for audio.

I assume that the nuts are standard for 1/4" jacks. At the very least, it should be very inexpensive to purchase a handful of 1/4" jack nuts from Mouser.com and test-fit them. If they're not standard, it might be very difficult to find a match.


As for the screw sizes, I assume you're asking about the pitch? My solution is always to bring one screw with me to the hardware store - and I favor stores that specialize in screws to ensure that they have access to a wide variety - and have them check the thread size. Home Depot actually has test-fit gauges hanging near their screws, and you can just try the samples until you find a fit.

Length can be challenging, because I found that chain hardware stores have reduced the variety of lengths that they carry by about half. Repairing my Oberheim Matrix-12, I noticed that the screw lengths were in between the common sizes carried. Thus, the easy retail options were too long to fit, or too short to be secure. I had to go to a commercial screw supplier to get the exact size that Oberheim used. Oberheim did use a standard size, of course, but the Home Depot simply omitted every other length to reduce their stocking costs. I don't know whether the Pro-One has the most common lengths or if you'll have a challenge, but if you start your search at a professional screw reseller, then you shouldn't be disappointed.
