FWIW that's about the only time I *would* just shotgun the power supply capacitors.
I've found maybe about a dozen "bad caps" in various bits of electronic equipment over the years, but half of them had been murdered by shorted bridge rects in linear power supplies.
Most of the rest were in the same EDP Wasp.
