[sdiy] What's the best freeware schematic capture and PCB layout software

DipTrace is considered to be better by some folks -- but it's a Windows
native app, and the MacOS Wine support is hinky at best.  So part of the
decision probably would be which platform are you on?

I use KiCad on MacOS regularly, and have learned its "UI quirks" without
much issue :)
