Kicad is the way.
There's a free version of Diptrace which can be easier to get started with
but depending on the number of pins it can get medium expensive. I
recommend that if you find kicad difficult and are willing to spend a
little money, but you should try kicad first.
Kicad still had some UI quirks but is extremely powerful at this point.
