Electronotes as a newsletter was “born” in 1972, - as an unpretentious
hand-cranked mimeograph offering. The full opus is today roughly 9000 pages.
Printed out two-sided, th is is a stack of paper about 20 inches tall! This
realization of scale is essential to a further understanding of the situation.
Aaron correctly pointed out above that " The trouble is there’s no way to
search it." Almost true. But our practice of generally documenting EN
articles with many internal and external references automatically provides
a very useful element of cohesion.
Of the 9000 total pages, 1/3 (3000 pages) are from the years 2000 and later,
and have been posted digitally and remain absolutely FREE on
https://electronotes.netfirms.com/. The current postings ALSO includes some
40 additional issues/notes that are actually pre-2000 items that are selected
references or requested items. Overall, I think that's generous! Did anyone
notice this? Oh yes, Ed above said: "There's a lot on the electronotes site
for download in PDF already." Good for him.
The 2/3 (6000 pages) from 1972 - 1999 were mainly offered for sale in hard-copy paper
form. We just reprinted individual volumes as needed to fill incoming orders in
quantities of about 25 in hopes of leveling off. About half of this paper
(3000 pages) was sold down. However, the other half had been recklessly overprinted
over the years when we had our own copier, and thus no new copies (and no scans)
were EVER made. Our commercial printer of 25 years has generously provided their
working scans. We are slowly working on obtaining quality scans of the missing items.
We shall see how our continued efforts play out. Everything is much harder than people here have claimed!
Bernie
