+1 for Horowitz/Hill (though about electronics in general)
And definitely "Small Signal Audio Design" by Douglas Self should be
mentioned. Its not a book for a beginner in electronics, but if you are
used to reading about electronics a bit, then it is invaluable (ok, at
the cashier of the book shop you will stumble about its "value" ;-) ).
