[sdiy] Fast optical device to replace slow responding LED/LDR combo.. ??

Is there any device that could replace a slow responding LED/LDR combo ?

I was thinking of this LED/photo transistor/bridge replacement..

The only thing to be carefull about would be the diodes voltage drops,

But using very low current that voltage drop could be very low..

Hmmm..
