Christmas light collector here. I have quite a few of those. They're becoming much less common these days.

Some of the early midget bulb strings had a flasher with a candelabra base. Some of those were quite chaotic and fun to watch. They would partially close and then start buzzing which caused the bulbs to flicker, making them less bright.

I used one of those every Halloween. I have a big red warning light that says "Laser Radiation Present" and I used one to make it flash. Those things get REALLY hot.
