[sdiy] Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Wah-Wah.. 500mH inductor replacement .. Found a small professional MuMetal shielded matching transformer @ 530mH on primary..

All of my pedal board’s original ‘AC transformers type’ supplies have been replaced with one multiple outputs SMPS 6 outputs 9VDC at 300mA.

A type of multi-supply made for pedals with very clean outputs.

This has killed 80 to 90% of the induced HUM.

A company called Fulltone in California will make available
MuMetal shielded 500mH inductors to buy in the next 2 months.

This is the type of inductor they use in their expensive Clyde McCoy Wah’s.

Waiting their quote on these..

You can try the mu-metal shield but I bet it will play havoc with the inductor value, so the end result might be unpredictable.

I think emulating the potentiometer will be harder than fixing the inductor hum issue. A real pot will allow almost any signal level with no distortion.

I'd fix the power supplies that make the noise rather than try to shield the inductor.
