Agree!
It beggars belief that Roland, in dedicating a module to the specific re-creation of the 106, still couldn't get it right! 
(I'm going by Gordonjcp's comments, I've not compared the two).
Certainly in a synth I'm very familiar with, the JP-8, the envelopes and LFO mod are an oft-overlooked and critical part of it's character
