[sdiy] Unique sounding modules that can't have voltage control?

Those are all fun to talk about where appropriate but we're trying to
specifically focus on

>>> RESISTIVE POTENTIOMETERS <<< on the front panel of a normal electronic (not electromechanical, not optomechanical, not mechanical, not fluidic) circuit

being replaced by

>>> ACTIVE COMPONENTS <<< in order to create a CV input

whereby it

>>> CHANGES THE SOUND <<< or actually >>> MAKES THE CIRCUIT NOT WORK <<<

specifically we're talking about RESISTIVE potentiometers and not:
variable capacitors, varistors, antennas, optical sensors,
time-of-flight sensors, or whatever

thank you

This could be done with stepper motors on a sliding track, but you cannot increase the length of the metal in the spring, only how much which it is stretched. If you could adjust the transducers / contacts over time and "dampen" the unused portion of the spring, perhaps you could use a motorized "capo" and contact mic.

The Marshall Time Modulator is 90% there, but there is a difference between The Beatles "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" (tape) or Siouxsie & the Banshees "Dear Prudence" (tape, possibly with a Boss Jet Phaser) at 1:28 vs. Bauhaus "Terror Couple Kill Colonel" (Marshall Time Modulator)
