Ha ha yes that was how I interpreted your suggestion!
And while there might be a lot of things that ::SHOULD:: be voltage controlled on a VCS-3, they don't always work out that way.
Eno famously guarded the non-controllable quirks of his machine, by sticking notes on it when he sent it in for service... "Don't Fix This Bit Please"
