Hold on, I misread the schematic. The audio signals are pulses, not square waves. Which is consistent with the heavy low-pass filtering.
Each "driver" stage creates a high-to-low pulse when its input goes positive. They are roughly 100uSec, 50uSec, 100uSec, 200uSec, and 400uSec long, left to right. And each pulse is used both to trigger the flop, and is filtered for the audio mix.
