An example that comes up a lot in practice would be the simple act of connecting the sawtooth to a classic vacuum tube guitar amp, overdriving the first stage a little. And the effect is increased by the fact that almost all sawtooth VCO's have a positive bias, they reset to zero volts, for fweep-fweep modulations.
