[sdiy] Signals leaking into the PSU?

Yeah, not the best of names, and not totally accurate.  1984 would fit with it being Bob Pease who coined the term as he wrote articles in the biggest professional electronic magazine of the time.

I've used it since then, especially on 48V phantom power circuits because having a large smoothing capacitor charged to 48V is a lot of energy that could get zapped into a microphone or the input transistors (despite being protected), whereas a much smaller capacitor and this circuit gives almost the same effect without much actual stored energy.

I've heard the term around 1984, still behind "the iron courtain". The title with it was very intriguing when I first saw it, but after reading the article I thought what a stupid name for something like this.
