[sdiy] disgusting sticky rubber wheels solution found

I found different types of sticky surfaces - and different solutions:
* some can be removed by rubbing with IPA and towel
* The Arturia Microbrute knobs for example didn't work with IPA, here I found a tip on the web that soda and a little bit of water works fine. And it worked like a charm!
* other units didn't work with any of the above - then I used a clear spray paint - this fixed the sticky surface and made a new harder surface - works for at least 10 years, lets see if it will be sticky in a few years...
Ciao
Peter

Seconding this.
If it's a flat surface, I scrub off the goo with an old plastic (debit,
credit, ...) card and then go for the final cleaning round using paper
towels and, where required, a soft toothbrush.
Much easier that way than going through several rounds of paper towels.
Luckily, so far I only had two candidates that required this treatment,
some later Dell Latitude and an illuminated Logitech keyboard. In both
cases, the "soft lacquer" (or whatever it is officially called) used on
the handrest parts (and in case of the Dell also the top bar covering
the LEDs) turned to sticky goo.
(Never tried acetic acid for that, but my gut feeling from using it as a
decalcifyer for kitchen and bathroom cleaning is that the smell sticks
around longer than the "technical" and IMO more tolerable IPA smell. But
that's personal preference, I guess.)
