If by 'continuous' you mean DC, then there is an image before filtering - at the sampling rate :-)

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I think you'd need to demonstrate that pretty clearly to me before I'd accept it was even detectable.

I cannot see how a continuous signal can possibly produce imaging, even if the filtering after it is quite poor.
