Mike,
I'm designing the mixer for the purpose of selling it. The mics should be
dynamics like an sm58. I'm not going to support phantom power because this
is a performance mixer, although we considered that for about 5 minutes.
The mixer will have +/-15v rails. I mention that because the mic pre needs
to sit on those and be very happy.
I'll check out the book though.
The one effect that i was thinking would be so cool is distortion for the
vocals.
