Not sure if I understand this right…
A string usually is not magnetised. Close to one pole of a magnet it will be pulled towards that pole, no matter if it’s a north or south pole. In the middle between the two poles it won’t be pulled anywhere at all.
On the other hand, if the string is placed in front of both poles of a horseshoe magnet (as with a humbucker pickup) it will be pulled towards the poles.
