I am using a XGecu TL866 Mark2 plus programmer -c heap and cheerful that has successfully burned Eproms.
Will check the burn process etc. I will try programming then read the chip and try running diff on the before and after versions.

My first suspicion is that the GAL chips aren't getting burned correctly. It's hard to find a combination of burner and chip that works in my opinion. On new chips, can you burn the original configuration? At least that gets you a sanity check when burning PLDs. Beware of true or false checksum tests. Been bitten by that myself.

Subject: Re: [sdiy] Kurzweil K2000 upgrade
After searching the internets I finally found the info on how to upgrade a Rev A, B or B2 Engine board that does not have JP7 installed.
I noticed a reference to the upgrade on monotanz.de (https://monotanz.de) - a seller of upgrade ROMs and the site owner sent me a PDF containing the info.
So the K2000 is running Calvin v 3.87 with just one small issue - it locks up after booting up unless it is in diagnostic mode.
It runs all the diagnostic tests repeatedly with no issue but when I boot into "regular" mode it freezes after a few minutes.
Further study of the upgrade notes indicates that an upgrade of the Pseudo and Godot GAL chips is highly recommended to fix "stability issues".
I currently have Pseudo v2.0 and Godot V3.0. I found images for the K2000R on DBWBP.com (https://DBWBP.com) for Pseudo v5.0 and Godot v5.0 however when I try either or both of these chips the K2000 will not boot at all.
Does anyone have K2000 images for Pseudo v4.0 and Godot v5.0, or am I missing something when I burn the images?
Regards Tony
