[sdiy] Powering 4ms pod

Hi Everybody,

I have a Pod20 from 4ms, and just looked at it.

1. The pod fires up just fine with no load - The 3 Leds on the board all
glow merrily
2. It requires 12V with a centre positive plug
3. The PSU is really nice - there are a couple of buck switching
regulators onboard to do the 5v +/1 12 conversion / regulation.

If your supply is pulsing on/off then it is going into overload, switching
off, and trying to restart again - This says that whatever its loading up
is shorted.

Is the pulsing a LED on the PSU itself? Does it stay lit when the PSU is
not plugged into the pod.

In the case of the Pod20, D1 is a series diode that protects the module
from reverse polarity, so if the supplies are the same, you have not likely
damaged it with reverse polarity.

My forecast is that one of the buck converters has reverted to silicon -
remove them one at a time till the stort goes away.

Kindest regards,

Doug Jackson
