Part of my job is to respond to customers' emails, so I've seen it all.
As a general rule everybody make pictures with their iPhone not knowing
anything about making pictures. That is 40 Mpix, 15MB file which is
dark, out of focus, shaken, tilted and shows not really what matters,
but mostly customer's appartment or their feet. Those pictures could be
downsized to 320x240 40kB and still look exactly the same. Good if it's
just one picture, but there's always more, and that kills my mobile
internet.

Meanwhile it's not unussual on the web to see quality sharp photos with
lots of details taking almost entire screen that are less than 300kB in
size.

Let's not get carried away with what today's technology alows, because
it only creates false need for more bandwidth, resolution, memory,
whatever and makes people lazy. I bet every phone has setting to make
lower res photo, but typical thinking is "48Mpix must be better than 2",
while actual image sensor is only 5Mpix.
It's not even technology but marketing championships - the one who
offers more of anything, wins. More memory can hold more carelesly
written crappy software and more oversized pictures. This could go endless.

BTW, I'd love to have VT-100
