Thank you all for your comments, both on and off list. I’ll keep the limit at 1 MB because of:
- Mobile devices with limited bandwidth, storage,
- Mailbox limits,
- Keeping the feed small
I had a quick look if it is possible for the list software to archive any sent attachments and insert links to our archive instead, but I don’t think this is possible. If there are any Mailman gurus here please let me know if I overlooked something.
And for what it’s worth, I’m against linking to any storage on some image server / dropbox / big-tech-company drive, because often that is only temporary storage. In the long run this would make the archive incomplete.
So I’ll keep bouncing emails > 1 MB. :-)
