[sdiy] Carbon film resistors

Reading my post again I see I have written it in too much wicked way, so
will try again. What I meant was that resistors bought at Ali as "metal
film 1%" in the title, turned out to be drifting like crazy with actual
tolerance often exceeded 3%. They were worse in every way than my carbon
Royal Ohm ones. Hence my suspicion they were actually poorly made carbon
resistors painted blue.
Indeed, there's no reason not too use metal film resistors everywhere,
except for "that vintage analog warmth". They're cheap, accurate, stable
and available. Well, carbon one may be 3 times cheaper than metal, but
1/3 of nearly nothing is still nearly nothing.

OTOH if you'd like to try unbranded resistors from Aliexpress, which are in fact advertised as 1% metal film resistors - you'd be surprised how much a resistor may drift, it beats any branded carbon resistor in drifting and out-of-toleranceness by far.
