yup, hot tweezers do it, but I use them that way only for 0402. My
regular technique is too clumsy for 0402 so hot tweezers are perfect for
that. Also, 0402 does not need much solder, so it's enough if I just wet
the tips with solder wire from time to time.
But for all other stuff I prefer one side at a time method. Maybe
because I'd rather solder with melt-only-once spots and not reflow the
solder drops on empty pads. More like personal preference I guess.

don't get me wrong, I fully understand David's choice, and respect it. I
simply adore SMD the same way he adores THT, and likewise THT for me is
the same evil as SMD for him. Everybody does their thing to be happy.
overs to complete) Even my passion projects I build by hand with SMD and
I have a pick n place machine!
right, it creates spiritual bond between the circuit and the builder ;)
I like that too. And let's not forget that setup of SMD line for new
design is a pain in the neck, so this is where all the time savings (and
fun) goes out the window.

It is perfect for what I need, but I won’t be doing any more business with them after they took my money and only delivered 25% of the order. I was impressed by the rig Roman offered, but I don’t know where I would put it. My desk is WAY too cluttered for such a thing.
no, you don't need any desk space for that! It comes with trolley table,
or should I say a desk of its own where feeders are attached to.
all you need is about 2 sqm of floor space...
