Is there *any* ROM in the part like a bootloader? Assuming one utilizes 
that, the end user could reflash the OS after 10 years or something.  
Failing that, a reflash using a debugger and the original firmware file 
I guess (yet another tool for the repair shop to own). Makes EPROMs look 
attractive LOL.

PS. And here I'm getting sick of just having to charge up all the 
various things I own that use rechargeable batteries... headphones, 
flashlights, doorbells, etc.
