IIRC, it's the analog drum synth in Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers".

I hooked one of those to my Apple ][+ using a serial to parallel shift register from Radio Shack (those were the days). I wire-wrapped a board that plugged into the I/O socket. It worked the first time and it may have been the first thing I ever built from scratch. I don't think I ever had a need for wire-wrapping again.

I know it's around here someplace but I can't find it. The interface board is still in the computer.
