Hi list,
No one is mentioning how you can vastly improve matt pcb panels with oily/waxy substances .
One obvious test is using WD-40 (silicon based) on your panel , it vastly improves the color and contrast and reduces scratches and marks.
One problem is the smell , and I’m not sure about toxicity after it dries . So a better , less chemical solution would have my preference
I’ve not tried it yet, but I bet linseed oil could be used . Or any oil that can dry , Silicon based / Mineral.
I’ve also though about using some beeswax , or some other wax based product, making some kind of encaustic as you would with wood using turpentine . There are plenty of wax to try and many are non harmful.
I’ve also seen people spray coating their panel with matt metal varnish but I don’t like that option too much.
The great advantage of wax/oil is that it can be reapplied years after years.
Maybe someone has similar comments about post-processes , anyone using this commercially ?
Best,
Raphael
