I’m more thinking about things where its behavior might be critical outside of general AF applications (it’s a fairly general purpose op amp); power supplies and exponential converters might be two of the things I had in mind, but it’s been a few weeks since I looked.
I’m mostly coming at it from the point of view of an electrical engineer who’s had plenty of nightmares with “sensible” part substitutions that make a well-established design go wrong because one parameter is significantly different. In the case of the TL07x/8xH, it’s several parameters that are significantly different not just in value but in behavior; they’re all improvements, AFAICT, but I don’t think I’d call it a drop-in for every purpose, which is why I think they should have used different part numbers.
I sure would like to try some out, but they seem awful hard to get right now, which would also give me pause for using them in something where production time mattered.
