[sdiy] ODP: Buying directly from Texas Instruments

Does TI send these parts directly from its own stock, or are the orders
fulfilled through distributors? Are there other manufacturers that
similarly do low-quantity "retail" sales? How do distributors feel about
manufacturers offering direct sales? It would seem distributors would see
this as unfair competition unless the manufacturer charges higher prices
than distributors.

As for Paypal, I agree that just about any business that sells online
"should" accept Paypal, but without ordering huge volumes there's not much
chance of changing such a policy, A "friend" discovered over a year ago
that Digikey will only accept Paypal if the account is connected to a
"real" credit card (a Visa or Mastercard debit card doesn't count!), but
Mouser accepts Paypal with no restrictions. I, er, my friend wondered why
the difference.
