[sdiy] AS3394E: Practical power supply?

I had my hands on a 303 in 1985. I thought it was the silliest thing.
The super-resonant filter was an embarrassing bodily function I only used to irritate my colleagues.

I modded it: Sub-octave, envelope-controlled PWM, wider filter range.

I modded a 606 too, (but it wasn’t really exactly my property): Remove the mummy dust from the tom-toms, make the toms tunable, remove the metal from the hats (my preference at the time), turn the cymbal into a kind of unmodulated resonant hand clap sound, make the kick drum more of a kick drum and reduce the sound of the second oscillator. Knobs and switches sticking out of it like tumors, spray painted it white.

Looking back, these were great (but opinionated) modifications.

When I could I used the 303 to drive my PAiA Proteus I, but if I only had the 303 it sounded so much better with a sub oscillator, modest resonance, and a sharp, punchy attack envelope.
