They look similar to the keyboards used on mainframe terminals on an IBM
System 370.
I remember some terminals that had the ability to lock the keys. I.e.
you would feel when
your input wasn't accepted. (Because your cursor was in the weeds.) A
bit like a jammed typewriter.
