If you’re interested in tubes stuff, I recommend DIYstompboxes.com. There’s some people doing some amazing stuff with voltage multiplier circuits to run tube circuits off a 9V stompbox power supply. Of course, the pre-amps from the most famous amps are very popular, but there’s all sorts of stuff, and the techniques would be applicable for a lot of other things. There’s a lot of tubes in guitar-world still, remember.
