Yes, 'dark' represents the existential opposite of electrons and the light they can produce (their anti-being) so naturally there's a deeply ingrained terror. As a result of these new insights we are thinking about designing a line of electron-friendly DIP ICs that are transparent, and also have a number of holes drilled through them to help the acoustics. I haven't yet seen a scope that can measure and display electron comfort and happiness but clearly one is needed to silence the doubters.

Thinking at that level also explains why tubes are better. Most probably electrons are afraid in the dark. And now adding their claustrophobic nature to that...
