You were very welcome Ulrich.
Yesterday, final tests on original DS1630AB and saved datas..
As I suspected the DS1630AB original 32k datas seem to have no protected 2k
chunks.
I placed the chip in my programmer and since there are no DS1630AB in the
programmer's
device list I had to use the DS1230AB device to make my tests (same
architecture but no partitioning).
Ok, so I filled all the screen memory space with FF then programmed the
chip.
Removed the chip from the socket,
filled all the screen memory space with 33, placed the chip back into the
socket,
read back the chip data and all the bytes were FF all over the 32k space.
Then I filled all the screen memory space with 00 then programmed the chip.
Removed the chip from the socket,
filled all the screen memory space with AA, placed the chip back into the
socket,
read back the chip data and all the bytes were 00 all over the 32k space.
It seems there were no write-protected 2k chunks in the entire memory space
(finally replaceable with a DS1230AB).

DS1630AB could be replacable by DS1230AB.. ?? YES !
Hi Jean-Pierre!
Cool, thats good news! Thanks for sharing your experiences and solution.

could be replacable by DS1230AB.. ?? YES !
I just read the scopes DS1630AB data then programmed a new DS1230Y-70IND+
I had on hand and BINGO ! My TDS350 accepted it with no partitioning at
all.
I programmed some setups in the scopes memory, turned it OFF then back ON
and all the saved data was there..
Im SO glad ! No more worries about losing my scopes calibration..
Just posted this on the Tektronix forum too.

In my quest to replace the about to die DS1630AB 32k x 8 NVSRAM inside my
TektronixTDS350 scope
with the same IC because of the possible use of the partitionable memory
this chip offers
Here is a picture of my TDS350 CPU+acquisition board:

I finally found the schematic for a very similar Tektronix scope.. the
TDS320.
The TDS320 is a 100Mhz-500MS/s scope while my TDS350 is 200Mhz-1GS/s.
Since the differences between both could reside in the acquisition and time
base speeds
It would be very possible both scopes use about the same CPU circuitry..
Here is a snapshot of the TDS320 oscilloscope CPU board:

You can see that instead of a DS1630AB-120 like the TDS350 the TDS320 CPU
uses a DS1230AB-120,
A standard 32k x 8 NVSRAM with no partitioning. Plain NVSRAM memory.

So when I replace the actual DS1630AB-120 I will first read its complete
data
into a .BIN file, then program a standard DS1230AB-120 (which I have on
hand)
with the just saved calibration data.. and place it in the new installed 28
pins socket, Then cross my fingers..
Hmmmm. Interesting..
