Betreff: *EXT* [sdiy] Textronix TDS350 scope memory backup NVSRAM DS1630AB could be replacable by DS1230AB.. ?? YES !
I just read the scope’s DS1630AB data then programmed a new DS1230Y-70IND+
I had on hand and BINGO ! My TDS350 accepted it with no partitioning at all.
I programmed some setups in the scope’s memory, turned it OFF then back ON
and all the saved data was there..
I’m SO glad ! No more worries about losing my scope’s calibration..
Just posted this on the Tektronix forum too.

Objet : [sdiy] Textronix TDS350 scope memory backup NVSRAM DS1630AB could be replacable by DS1230AB..
In my quest to replace the ‘about to die’ DS1630AB 32k x 8 NVSRAM inside my TektronixTDS350 scope
with the same IC because of the possible use of the partitionable memory this chip offers
Here is a picture of my TDS350 CPU+acquisition board:
http://www.arcenson.com/public/TDS350_CPU-ACQ_board.JPG<https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.arcenson.com%2Fpublic%2FTDS350_CPU-ACQ_board.JPG&data=04%7C01%7CPeter.Ullrich%40kapsch.net%7C89b32e94600b4d3eddf008d91583d880%7C5f9ce5277e3e4e83a8a4b6c848f85ab5%7C1%7C1%7C637564478303169047%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=P%2BtiGzEHS%2BYm00VE%2B0PhjWb2hMuAyF%2BIHeH2iKYhXpM%3D&reserved=0>
I finally found the schematic for a very similar Tektronix scope.. the TDS320.
The TDS320 is a 100Mhz-500MS/s scope while my TDS350 is 200Mhz-1GS/s.
Since the differences between both could reside in the acquisition and time base speeds
It would be very possible both scopes use about the same CPU circuitry..
Here is a snapshot of the TDS320 oscilloscope CPU board:
http://www.arcenson.com/public/TDS320_CPU_board.jpg<https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.arcenson.com%2Fpublic%2FTDS320_CPU_board.jpg&data=04%7C01%7CPeter.Ullrich%40kapsch.net%7C89b32e94600b4d3eddf008d91583d880%7C5f9ce5277e3e4e83a8a4b6c848f85ab5%7C1%7C1%7C637564478303179049%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=I6bBp8or8z8Zlxf1Tj%2BmwdapvWZyLQbRp80HjdaBcDQ%3D&reserved=0>
You can see that instead of a DS1630AB-120 like the TDS350 the TDS320 CPU uses a DS1230AB-120,
A standard 32k x 8 NVSRAM with no partitioning. Plain NVSRAM memory.
http://www.arcenson.com/public/TDS320_CPU_board_2.jpg<https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.arcenson.com%2Fpublic%2FTDS320_CPU_board_2.jpg&data=04%7C01%7CPeter.Ullrich%40kapsch.net%7C89b32e94600b4d3eddf008d91583d880%7C5f9ce5277e3e4e83a8a4b6c848f85ab5%7C1%7C1%7C637564478303179049%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=itLn17IxX92XsVOwTSVdY2g2%2Bb0stwl59L2PNfG7%2BVw%3D&reserved=0>
So when I replace the actual DS1630AB-120 I will first read it’s complete data
into a .BIN file, then program a standard DS1230AB-120 (which I have on hand)
with the just saved calibration data.. and place it in the new installed 28 pins socket, Then cross my fingers..
Hmmmm. Interesting..
