Since the DS1630 seems to be hard to read/write/save
on a specific programmer (can’t find one),

Here is what I’ll do :

· Remove the ‘about to die’ DS1630AB from my TDS350 scope

· Read it in my programmer as a standard 32k x 8 SRAM using part# DS1230 instead

· Save the complete device data to my PC

· Verify each of the 16 x 2K chunks that are read-only by trying to write to each of them and note them on paper

· Put aside the original DS1630AB

· Install another DS1630AB which has been dremeled (and has an external 3V lithium battery) to the programmer

· Program it with the just saved 32k x 8 data (all bytes write enable here)

· Disconnect it from the programmer (external 3V battery always connected)

· Connect it to a small home made Microchip PIC based adapter that will program the 16 x 2k chunks

With the same read-only setup as the original one untouching the data itself.

· Disconnect it then connect it back to my programmer still using DS1230 part# instead

· Compare the data with the saved PC data

· Test each 2k chunks and verify their read_only setup from the original one.

· If everything compare I have a good DS1630AB (with external 3V Battery) to use in the TDS350 scope

That’s it.

Many diyers on this list gave me many tips to

Replace a DS1630AB partitioned SRAM from my TDS350 scope

And I thank you all.

Now I’m struggling to find a programmer/reader that will
be able to ‘talk’ to this device..

I already have a multi-programmer that works well for many devices
including micros and RAMS (standard RAMS) but does not
list the DS1630 in its supported devices..

I checked renowned programmers like Logical Devices
and even them don’t support this partitioned RAM IC.

If Anybody have a programmer name to suggest …

That would help a lot !
