[sdiy] ALFA clone chips?

Agree! Like you guys, customer feedback on the Alfa chips here has been very positive. And like you, we also have the CEM3340s, because…well, it’s the CEM3340! In my view it’s not my job to choose for people whether they want AS3340, V3340, or CEM3340.

Finally, I totally agree that there are so many good choices! This is some kind of golden age for analogue synths. We have all the analogue chips we could possibly want, but this time around we have *far* more powerful processors to control it all with. It’s just amazing!

We’ll continue offering the OnChip 3340 because of its popularity, and out of respect for Mary Curtis. And we are expanding to offer all the Sound Semi chips too... so many good choices.

There's a company in Singapore who will strip off each layer of an IC and generate new masks but also an accurate schematic of the IC so you can make an exact clone or an improved version should you so wish. But they can only give you an estimate of deposition times and so you need to run a full trial and errors runs to get that right.
