There is one thing about the SDD3000 I always loved and never found
again on any other digital delay: If you change the delay time with the
knobs on the front neither the pitch will change, nor the signal will be
suspended while the change. You hear a little of zipper noise but that
is all. This helps a lot to adjust the delaytime to the the timing of
the incoming signal.
Also the modulation amount is put in relation to the delay time.
Example: you have a 30ms delay with a smooth modulation for chorus. Now
you may increase the delaytime to 500ms, but the modulation will still
make the smooth chorus-modulation. That was unbeatable.
The SDD3000 was really the most useful delay I worked with in my time as
professional soundengineer. Unfortunately they are overshooting
expensive today due to all those guitar players, who think they sound
like Edge from U2, only because he had it in his rack.
