Yeah. The odd thing is Mozart said exactly the same thing about aging string instrument players adding too much vibrato to hide them not hitting the correct note first time which is why I thought him serious.

I think that depends on the composer. And we don’t know how Vivaldi, Paganini, Mozart or the others actually played, just some odd comments they made about some people using excessive vibrato.
