You can also approximate a delay-line with LC networks too. Or even a
distributed LC delay-line like this:

The fine wire is wound on a copper tube that kills off most of the
inductance that you'd normally get with winding a big coil of wire. So all
you're left with is the time it takes for the current to travel along the
wire and come out the other end!
But if an R and a C already work...
