I made the mistake of dumping a useful and robust 14 channel Soundcraft signature MTK mixer (that I paid $300 for) which had built-in internal effects, parametric Mids and 2-3 FX Sends, as well as functioned as an audio interface, only to shrink the footprint by 1/4 the size with a Befaco HexMix & expander, which almost cost 2-3x the price.
It would be an interesting prospect, but with the needs people have, you are far better putting your energy elsewhere it seems. There are new boutique mixers on the market from some incredible designs out of Germany, but they have a price pack that is commensurate. I wish I was wrong — because I’m still not happy with the ultra portable Eurorack mixer options these days!
